General

Yazghil La trek is one of the great trekking options for trekkers that want to choose an isolated route visited by a very few individuals. Yazghil La trek seems a little challenging to organize but we are up for organizing this challenge if you are up for it. We will involve some strong/experienced high altitude climbers/explorers from Shimshal, who are known for their climbing/exploring spirits.

FAQs

How steep is the Yazghil La compared to the Gondogoro La?  Will a rope be fixed?

According to our guide from Shimshal, there is no one alive in Shimshal and Nagar valleys who has crossed the Yazghil La. Some foreign explorer in the past has apparently crossed this pass. However we have contractual guides from Shimshal who have in the past explored new routes and have an explorer spirit and who would like to get involved if this adventure was to be planned. In any case, we recommend to start such a trek from Shimshal valley as more mountaineers/high porters are available there and also that the approach to the pass would be easier. The Nagar side slope of the pass seems steep. This can be confirmed on google earth.

How much of the trek, if any, would we be on saftey rope?

A two-person rope fixing team should be able to fix ropes during ascent/descent on the Nagar side. On the Shimshal side, participants and porters would walk together (all hooked to a rope) and use their crampons for safety before ascent/descent on the pass.
Given the terrain and distances on the map, it seems like at least 400m of the route would require fixed safety ropes on the Nagar side.

What are the km and time estimates for the trek below?

An average of 18kms per day (7 to 10 hours) except the day when crossing the pass is involved which will be around 22kms.

Apart from Yazghil La Trek, we also offer K2 trekking holidays that are given in the table below.
