Itinerary – Uzbekistan 10-day Tour

The itinerary for the Uzbekistan 10-day Tour appears below.

On this Day

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Nukus, the capital of Karakalpakstan. Upon arrival, guests meet the local driver and guide and travel by road to Muynak, previously a prosperous Aral Sea port city and formerly renowned as Uzbekistan's maritime gateway. The visit focuses on the stunning ship cemetery, which is located far from the current shoreline and serves as an example of the region's ecological disaster. On the way back to Nukus, the ancient Mizdakhan necropolis is visited near the ruins of Gyaur-Kala, a former Zoroastrian settlement that was revered for ages. After arriving in Nukus, you will rest and spend the night at your hotel.

On this Day

Breakfast is followed by a visit to the Savitsky Museum, which is known for its outstanding collection of Karakalpak and Uzbek applied arts, as well as one of the world's greatest collections of Russian avant-garde paintings. The museum reflects Igor Savitsky's life effort, which protected creative history that was formerly considered prohibited. Following the visit, travel to Khiva with picturesque stops near the ancient fortresses of Ayaz-Kala and Toprak-Kala, which were powerful defensive sites built during Ancient Khorezm's independent era. These ruins, which rise from sandy hills, provide insight into the early regional culture. Upon arrival in Khiva, hotel check-in is conducted, and the day ends with overnight accommodation.

On this Day

Breakfast is followed by a guided stroll through Ichan-Kala, Khiva's old inner city, and a spectacular Central Asian open-air museum. The journey visits the spectacular Ata-Darvaza gate, the Kunya-Ark fortification, and the madrassahs of Muhammad Rahim Khan and Muhammad Amin Khan. Visitors enjoy Kalta Minor, Tash Hauli Palace with its medieval harem, the caravanserai and Tim Allakuli Khan, and Seyd Allaudin's mausoleum. The program continues with the Islam-Khoja Madrassah and its distinctive minaret, as well as the Jami Mosque and its minaret. The rest of the day is free to relax, followed by an overnight stay at the hotel.

On this Day

Following breakfast, travelers depart from Khiva for Bukhara by car or train, depending on availability. The journey takes you across the huge Kyzylkum Desert, sometimes known as "red sand," which stretches between the Amudarya and Syrdarya rivers. Historically, this desert was an important part of the Great Silk Road, connecting renowned cities like Khiva, Bukhara, and Samarkand. Throughout the ride, passengers hear about the once-bustling caravan life that thrived in this seemingly inhospitable landscape. When you arrive in Bukhara, we will arrange for a transfer to the hotel and check you in. There is time for rest, with overnight lodging in the city.

On this Day

Following breakfast, a full tour introduces Bukhara's ancient riches. The program begins with the Lyabi Hauz ensemble, which includes Nadir Divanbegi Madrassa, Khanaka, Kukeldash Madrassa, and the Khodja Nasreddin monument. The historic Magoki Attari Mosque is visited first, followed by Abdullakhan's Tim and Sayfuddin Caravanserai, which is now a center for handicraft development. Visits continue to the old trading domes, Ulugbek and Abdulazizkhan Madrassas, and the enormous Poi Kalon complex, which includes a minaret and mosque. The tour ends at the Ark Fortress, an old castle full of tales. The overnight stay is in Bukhara.

On this Day

After breakfast, travel for Samarkand via Shakhrisabz, crossing the picturesque Takhta Karacha mountain pass. Upon arrival in Shakhrisabz, a guided excursion unveils Amir Timur's legacy. Highlights include the colossal ruins of Ak Saray Palace, the conqueror's opulent summer retreat, and the Dorus-Saodat complex, which houses the burial of his eldest son Jahongir. The journey continues with Kok Gumbaz, also known as the House of Meditation, and the Gumbazi-Seyidon Mausoleum, where Ulugbek's descendants are buried. Travel then proceeds to Samarkand, where a hotel check-in is scheduled. The day concludes with rest and overnight accommodations.

On this Day

Following breakfast, a comprehensive sightseeing itinerary introduces Samarkand's architectural and cultural wonders. The tour begins with the Gur Emir Mausoleum, Timur and his successors' final resting place, which is known for its elaborate ornamentation. The journey proceeds to the famed Registan Square, which is surrounded by Ulugbek, Sherdor, and Tilla Kori madrassas. A master class on creating traditional Samarkand pilaf is held in a national house. Further exploration includes the grand Bibi Khanim Mosque, the Shahi Zinda necropolis, Ulugbek’s Observatory, and the lively Siyab Bazaar. Dinner with local manti is organized before returning to the hotel for the night.

On this Day

Breakfast is followed by a free day in Samarkand, which can be spent independently exploring, shopping, or relaxing in the medieval city. Later, a transfer is made to the railway station for the high-speed Afrosiyob train back to Tashkent. Upon arrival in the capital, visitors are greeted by the driver and taken to their accommodation. This return ride provides a relaxing end to the Samarkand experience while returning to the modern beat of Tashkent. After hotel check-in, there is time to relax and reflect on the voyage through Uzbekistan. The hotel in Tashkent provides overnight lodging.
