Murree Tour (Day Trip from Islamabad) 2024-25 – 01 Day

Murree Tour is another sightseeing option if you are in Islamabad for multiple days and if you have interest in nature and landscapes. The history of Murree as a hill station is intertwined with the colonial legacy of the British Raj. Established in the mid-19th century, Murree was initially envisioned as a summer respite for British soldiers and officials seeking refuge from the sweltering heat of the Indian plains. The cool climate, lush forests, and stunning vistas of the surrounding hills made Murree an ideal escape.

Murree Tour is a sightseeing tour guided by Apricot Tours.

Our other day trips from Islamabad are given in the table below.

Overview – Murree Tour

During the British colonial era, Murree emerged as a significant administrative and military center. The town’s strategic location, nestled in the Pir Panjal range of the Himalayas, provided a vantage point for overseeing the region and maintaining communication with various parts of the British Indian Empire.

As the years passed, Murree gradually transformed into a charming hill station complete with colonial architecture, quaint cottages, and well-manicured gardens. The Mall Road, a picturesque promenade lined with shops, cafes, and colonial-era buildings, became the heart of the town’s social and commercial activities. The grandeur of the colonial past is still evident in structures like the St. Luke’s Church and the General Post Office.

With the passage of time, Murree’s popularity transcended its colonial origins. As Pakistan gained independence in 1947, the hill station remained a beloved destination for both locals and international travelers. The captivating landscapes, pleasant weather, and proximity to major cities like Islamabad and Rawalpindi contributed to Murree’s status as a go-to destination for weekend getaways and family vacations.

The town’s tourism industry expanded, offering a range of accommodations, restaurants, and recreational activities. From horseback riding through pine forests to exploring the Murree Wildlife Park, tourists found an array of experiences that catered to their interests.
