Day 02: Fly to Gilgit
On this Day
Take an early morning scenic flight from Islamabad to Gilgit, which provides stunning aerial views of the Karakoram Range, including Nanga Parbat on clear days. Upon arrival, transfer to your accommodation and spend the day adjusting to the altitude. You may tour Gilgit Bazaar, mingle with the locals, and visit neighboring cultural attractions. The tranquil setting helps you both physically and mentally for the difficult trekking days ahead.
Day 03: Jeep Drive to Shimshal Village

Take a thrilling jeep ride from Gilgit to Shimshal, one of the most remote communities in the Hunza region. The trek begins on the Karakoram Highway and then turns onto a difficult alpine road carved along cliffs and rivers. Along the trip, you'll see spectacular scenery, suspension bridges, and tight gorges. Upon arrival, check into a local guesthouse, meet the porters, and prepare for the hike while learning about the distinctive Wakhi culture.
Day 04: Trek to Furzin Camp

Begin your trek from Shimshal hamlet, following historic routes through terraced fields and eventually into harsh mountain territory. The trail follows the Shimshal River and provides beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. After several hours of rigorous ascent and river crossings, arrive at Furzin Camp, a picturesque campsite surrounded by granite cliffs and alpine scenery. Spend the evening relaxing, eating a warm supper, and adjusting to the higher altitude.
Day 05: Trek to Maidoor Camp

Continue going deeper into the desolate valleys, as the terrain gets more difficult and isolated. The trail ascends steadily via stony roads, glacier moraines, and high-altitude pastures. As you approach Maidoor Camp, you'll see spectacular vistas of snow-covered peaks and wide landscapes. The campsite is situated in an open alpine environment with amazing views. Spend the evening relaxing, staying hydrated, and mentally preparing for the approaching high-altitude pass crossing.
Day 06: Crossing Mai Dur Pass

This is the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek, as you ascend to the beautiful Mai Dur Pass. The ascent includes steep snow slopes, rocky ridges, and sometimes ice sections, depending on the circumstances. Reaching the pass provides sweeping views of towering Karakoram peaks and extensive glacial landscapes. After spending time at the summit, camp along the pass and enjoy a unique high-altitude overnight under a starry sky.
Day 07: Trek Down to Madiqshligh (4,100m)

Descend from the pass into a stunning and less-traveled valley, taking care to navigate steep and rocky terrain. The route progressively eases as you descend, revealing magnificent sections of alpine greenery and rushing streams. Continue trekking until you reach Madiqshligh, which is located at around 4,100 meters. The campsite provides breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks as well as a tranquil area in which to relax. Spend the evening resting from the previous day's exertions and enjoying the tranquility of the highlands.
Day 08: Trek to Dih Camp

Continue hiking into the unspoiled forest, using a route that alternates between easy descents and steady ascents. The terrain changes, with broad valleys, grazing grasslands, and the occasional sighting of wildlife. Streams and glacial meltwater accompany the trek, adding to the natural splendor. After several hours of trekking, you'll arrive at Dih Camp, a nice and attractive campsite. The evening is spent resting, telling stories, and enjoying the unspoiled natural surroundings.
Day 09: Trek to Furzin

Begin the return journey by trekking toward Furzin, taking a different view of the valley covered previously. The path allows you to revisit old places while also discovering new nuances along the route. The walk is somewhat tough, with gentle descents and minor rises. As you get closer to Furzin, the scenery becomes more familiar, and the sensation of accomplishment is satisfying. Set up the tent and take a well-deserved break after another day of walking.
Day 10: Trek to Vonokin - Karimabad, Hunza

Continue trekking to Vonokin along a picturesque trail that goes through high-altitude meadows and traditional grazing pastures used by local herders during the summer. The path is relatively difficult, with gentle ascents and descents that provide panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and craggy peaks. Along the journey, you may come upon livestock and seasonal stone shelters. When you arrive at Vonokin, rest for a while. After finishing the walk, begin the journey with a jeep drive to Karimabad. Once in Karimabad, settle into a pleasant hotel and relax. Visit local markets or admire vistas of Rakaposhi and Ultar peaks, which highlight the transition from nature to civilization.
Day 11: Rest at Karimabad, Hunza

Spend a leisurely day in Karimabad, allowing your body to rest after the trip. You can visit historical landmarks like Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, or go for walks through orchards and rural alleyways. The magnificent backdrop of snow-capped peaks adds to the area's attractiveness. Enjoy local cuisine and engage with friendly locals. This rest day allows you to reflect on your trekking experience while also appreciating Hunza's cultural diversity.
Day 12: Drive to Gilgit

After breakfast, leave Karimabad and continue the magnificent trip back to Gilgit over the famed Karakoram Highway. The trek provides breathtaking vistas of rivers, towering cliffs, and lovely villages. You may stop at viewpoints for photographs and take brief breaks along the way. When you arrive in Gilgit, check into your hotel and take some free time to relax or visit the local bazaar before spending the night.
Day 13: Fly to Islamabad
On this Day
Take a morning trip and return to Islamabad, experiencing amazing aerial views of the northern mountains if the weather allows. After arriving, transfer to your accommodation and enjoy the day at leisure. You can tour the city further, shop for souvenirs, or relax before your overseas flight. This day serves as a buffer in the event of aircraft delays from Gilgit, guaranteeing a seamless travel experience.
Day 14: Fly to Home Country
On this Day
After breakfast, head to the airport for your international trip back home. As you go from Islamabad, carry with you amazing memories of the Mai Dur Pass trip, including spectacular scenery, cultural exchanges, and personal accomplishments. The drive through the secluded Shimshal region is unforgettable, providing a one-of-a-kind combination of adventure and natural beauty that few places on the planet can match.
Why Register Early?
1. Early Bird Discount: The given prices for the holiday are limited-time discount offers and are subject to change. Service providers including (but not limited) to airlines and hotels increase prices in peak-season. Early reservations cost less than peak-season.
2. Limited Flight Seats: Domestic flight seats to the Karakorams and Himalayas are sold out way ahead of time because there are only two daily flights during peak season. Among other things, the deposit is used to book domestic flights for you in advance.
3. Pay Balance after arrival in Pakistan: In these unusual times, we appreciate that paying the final balance for your trip may cause concern. Our policy is to only receive your final balance once you arrive in Pakistan. The only payment before arrival is the deposit.
4. Deposit valid for 3 years: We understand the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic (Covid-19). As part of our relaxed booking conditions following Covid-19, deposits are valid for 2 years.

Refund Policy for All
Deposit: Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable (but valid for 2 years) as it will be spent on making in-country arrangements.
Balance: Pay the balance only after arrival in Pakistan on the first day. Payment guidelines will be shared timely.
Currency
All international travelers can pay in US Dollars (USD) or equivalent in Euros (EUR) or Pound Sterling (GBP). Pakistani travelers are charged the equivalent in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).
Single Supplement
Separate hotel rooms (single supplement) will cost an additional USD 290. This includes all hotel nights. This payment should be made with the balance upon arrival.
Separate tents (single tent) will cost an additional USD 180. This includes the cost of additional porterage. This payment should also be made with the balance in Pakistan.
