The itinerary for the trek is listed below.
Day 02: Fly to Skardu
On this Day
Take a fantastic trip from Islamabad to Skardu, which provides breathtaking aerial views of the Karakoram Range, including views of Nanga Parbat on clear days. Upon arrival, transfer to your accommodation and unwind. The rest of the day is free for acclimatization and mild exploration of Skardu town, while the team checks that all trekking supplies and permits are for the excursion.
Day 03: Drive to Askole
On this Day
Take a hard jeep trip to Askole, the last populated village before entering the high Karakoram mountains. The route follows the Shigar Valley, passing through rivers and spectacular vistas. Expect a long, exciting drive across rugged terrain. Upon arrival, set up camp, greet the porters, and prepare your cargo. The evening is spent setting up equipment and enjoying your first night in the mountains.
Day 04: Trek to Jhola (3,155m)
On this Day
Begin trekking along the Braldu River toward Jhola, following a pretty easy track. The path winds over bleak landscapes, with occasional streams and suspension bridges. Before arriving at camp, you'll need to cross the Korofon River. The day provides an easy start to hiking conditions, allowing your body to gradually adjust to altitude while admiring broad vistas of the harsh Karakoram region.
Day 05: Trek to Paiju (3,385m)
On this Day
Continue trekking to Paiju, one of the most gorgeous campsites on the route. The walk goes along the river, offering views of distant hills and shifting scenery. Upon arrival, you are met with breathtaking views of Trango Towers. Paiju serves as an important acclimatization stop, and the campground is surrounded by juniper trees, providing a unique green contrast to the generally rocky area.
Day 06: Trek to Khoburtse (3,565m)
On this Day
Leave greenery behind and travel toward Khoburtse via glacier terrain. The trail includes stretches that cross the Baltoro Glacier, demanding careful footing over rocky and uneven terrain. The setting becomes harsher and more remote. Along the trip, take in breathtaking vistas of towering peaks and ice formations. Set up camp and prepare for the greater altitudes that lie ahead.
Day 07: Trek to Urdukas (4,130m)
On this Day
Continue trekking down the Baltoro Glacier to Urdukas, one of the Karakoram's most magnificent campsites. The path steadily climbs, providing panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glacier below. Urdukas is located on a grassy ledge above the glacier and serves as a comfortable and scenic rest stop. This is an important acclimatization stop before venturing into more isolated and difficult terrain.
Day 08: Trek to East Muztagh Pass Camp 1
On this Day
Depart from Urdukas and head to Camp 1 near the Muztagh Glacier. The terrain becomes increasingly challenging, with glacier navigation and crevassed areas necessitating caution. The path climbs steadily, providing increasingly stunning ice and mountain vistas. When you arrive at Camp 1, pitch your tents and get some rest. This signals the beginning of the expedition's more demanding alpine phase.
Day 09: Trek to Base Camp
On this Day
Continue your hike further into the glacier system toward Base Camp. The route requires crossing ice terrain, moraine ridges, and snowfields. The environment is harsh and desolate, with towering peaks encircling the campsite. Upon arrival, Base Camp is built as a staging area for the summit push. The crew evaluates climbing techniques and confirms that all equipment is ready for higher altitude circumstances.
Day 10: Trek to High Camp
On this Day
Ascend from Base Camp to High Camp, via steep glacier slopes and snowy terrain. The altitude climb becomes increasingly noticeable, necessitating a consistent pace and adequate acclimatization. High Camp is strategically located below the pass, providing shelter and preparation room for the summit attempt. The afternoon is spent resting, hydrating, and preparing for the early morning trek to East Muztagh Pass.
Day 11: Summit East Muztagh Pass (5,392m)
On this Day
Begin early to ascend East Muztagh Pass, which reaches an elevation of 5,392 meters. The climb entails maneuvering snow slopes and glacier portions, which need endurance and focus. After reaching the summit, take in the stunning vistas of the Karakoram ranges that stretch into China. After spending time at the pass, set up camp nearby, indicating a considerable accomplishment in this distant and difficult journey.
Day 12: Trek back to High Camp
On this Day
After a successful summit, start the descent back to High Camp. The return journey takes the same glacier route, which requires careful navigation across snow and ice. Descending relieves altitude strain, but requires vigilance owing to tricky terrain. After arriving at High Camp, rest and recover while reminiscing on your accomplishment of crossing East Muztagh Pass.
Day 13: Trek to Base Camp
On this Day
Continue descending from High Camp to Base Camp, retracing your steps across the glacier. The lower altitude provides considerable physical respite and allows for a more relaxed pace. The excursion allows you to revisit the stunning vistas from a different perspective. After arriving, take a well-deserved rest before returning to familiar camps along the Baltoro route.
Day 14: Trek to Urdukas
On this Day
Leave Base Camp and hike back to Urdukas. The descent along the glacier feels easier, but it still demands careful footing. As you approach Urdukas, the return to grassy places and a more comfortable camping is welcome. The camp provides breathtaking sunset views of the Baltoro Glacier, making it a memorable stop on the return trek.
Day 15: Trek to Paiju
On this Day
Continue descending into Paiju, leaving behind the upper glacial landscape. The track progressively transforms to a firmer footing, providing better walking conditions. When you arrive, appreciate the relative comfort of the campsite and the presence of vegetation. Following the hard high-altitude leg, we return to lower altitudes and a more relaxing hiking pace.
Day 16: Trek to Jhola
On this Day
Retrace your route along the Braldu River to Jhola. The trail is primarily downhill, which makes for a steady and easy walk. The terrain feels more familiar, and the lower elevation makes breathing easier. When you arrive at camp, relax and reflect on your trek across one of the most desolate areas of the Karakoram.
Day 17: Trek to Askole - Drive to Skardu
On this Day
Complete the final trek back to Askole, where automobiles await. After saying goodbye to the hiking team and porters, drive back to Skardu. The return route provides a sense of success and comfort as you shift from wilderness to society. Check into your accommodation and enjoy some well-deserved rest.
Day 18: Explore or Rest Day
On this Day
Take a rest day in Skardu to recover from the journey. This day is free for relaxation, exploring local markets, or short sightseeing excursions. You can visit neighboring lakes or enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains. The rest day also provides a buffer in the event of airline delays earlier in the schedule, allowing for greater flexibility in travel plans.
Day 19: Fly to Islamabad
On this Day
Take the return flight from Skardu to Islamabad. Weather permitting, relive the breathtaking airborne vistas of the Karakoram Range. Upon arrival, proceed to your hotel and spend the evening relaxing or visiting the city. This concludes the trekking section of your journey.
Day 20: Fly to Home Country
On this Day
Proceed to the airport for your international departure from Islamabad. After an incredible journey across the Karakoram Mountains and a successful crossing of the East Muztagh Pass, you'll leave with enduring memories of high-altitude adventure, spectacular scenery, and cultural experiences in northern Pakistan.

Overview – East Muztagh Pass Trek
The trek is one of the most distant and rewarding excursions in Pakistan’s Karakoram mountains. It connects the Baltoro Glacier to the buried Muztagh Glacier System. This hike provides a rare opportunity to explore pristine alpine terrain. Furthermore, trekkers encounter stunning scenery, high peaks, and extensive ice fields. The course begins at Askole and continues along the famed Baltoro trail. Then it progressively transforms into solitary glacial valleys. As a result, the excursion mixes traditional trekking and high-altitude exploration. In addition, vistas of the Trango Towers and nearby giants add to the experience.
However, this journey is tough for beginners and requires a high level of endurance. The passage of East Muztagh Pass at 5,392 meters is difficult but unforgettable. Therefore, appropriate acclimation and preparation are required. Along the trip, hikers encounter raw terrain with little human presence. Furthermore, the return voyage allows you to revisit major camps from a new perspective. This heightens the entire adventure and sense of accomplishment. As a result, the trek attracts experienced hikers seeking solitude and challenge. Overall, the trek offers a unique combination of beauty and challenge. It is still one of the least explored routes in the Karakoram.
