The itinerary for the trek is listed below.
Day 02: Fly to Skardu
On this Day
Take an early morning scenic flight from Islamabad to Skardu for stunning aerial views of the Himalayas and Karakoram peaks, including Nanga Parbat on a clear day. When you arrive in Skardu, you will be transported to your accommodation to relax and adapt to the altitude. The remainder of the day is free for a minor tour of the town or simply resting in preparation for the impending journey across this remote alpine region.
Day 03: Drive to Shagarthang
On this Day
Begin your overland journey to Shagarthang, the starting point for the Alampi La trek. The drive takes you past rocky mountain scenery, medieval villages, and picturesque valleys that show off Gilgit-Baltistan's raw beauty. As you approach Shagarthang, the environment gets more distant and spectacular, creating a true sense of wilderness. When you arrive, set up camp and get to know your trekking crew. Spend the evening organizing your gear and mentally preparing for the upcoming hike.
Day 04: Trek to Alampi La Pass Base
On this Day
Begin your trip from Shagarthang and progressively ascend through alpine scenery marked by stony roads, glacial streams, and scarce flora. The walk provides breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys, with the occasional glimpse of local species. As you ascend in elevation, the tempo remains consistent to promote acclimatization. After several hours of walking, you'll arrive at the Alampi La Pass base camp, where you'll set up camp and relax amidst the magnificent high-altitude views.
Day 05: Crossing Alampi La Pass
On this Day
This is the most difficult and rewarding day of the trek, as you cross the high-altitude Alampi La Pass. The ascent entails crossing steep rocky parts and possibly snow-covered terrain, depending on the season. Reaching the peak provides stunning panoramic views of the Karakoram and the immense wildness that extends into Astore. After spending time at the pass, descend somewhat and camp near it, spending the night in a truly secluded and awe-inspiring setting.
Day 06: Trek down to Bubind
On this Day
Descend from the high altitude region of Alampi La Pass to Bubind via a trail that progressively transitions from rocky terrain to verdant plains. The descent is gentler, although it still demands careful footing on rough slopes and at stream crossings. As you descend, the landscape becomes more friendly, with hints of greenery and some grazing areas. Set up camp and take a well-deserved rest after crossing the pass successfully.
Day 07: Drive to Astore – Skardu
On this Day
After breakfast, start driving from Bubind to Astore, going through gorgeous valleys including Wazirabad, Bomary Valley, and Gudai. The course is a mix of tough terrain and lush landscape, with magnificent mountain backdrops along the way.
