On this Day
In the morning, you take a beautiful flight to Skardu, which provides stunning aerial views of the Karakoram range, featuring peaks such as Nanga Parbat. If flights are canceled due to weather, the alternative is a long but exciting drive down the Karakoram Highway to Chilas. The ride follows the Indus River through spectacular vistas, providing a glimpse of the difficult terrain you will encounter on the hike.
Day 03: Skardu Rest Day or Chilas to Skardu
On this Day
If you arrived in Skardu via flight, this day is set aside for relaxation, acclimatization, and final expedition preparations. You may visit local sights, including Shigar Fort, Shangrila Resort, and the lively Skardu Bazaar. If going by vehicle, continue your journey from Chilas to Skardu, passing through picturesque valleys and mountain terrain. Upon arrival, check into your accommodation and prepare for the voyage ahead.
Day 04: Drive to Hushe
On this Day
Today, take an amazing 4x4 adventure from Skardu to Hushe Valley. The route passes via Khaplu before continuing over tiny mountain roads with breathtaking vistas of rivers, glaciers, and towering peaks. Hushe, a lonely and picturesque settlement, serves as the beginning point for your journey. Upon arrival, meet your trekking crew and spend the night getting ready for the excursion.
Day 05: Trek to Saicho (3,330m)
On this Day
The hike begins at Hushe and follows a steady trail along the river with spectacular views of Masherbrum and the surrounding peaks. The road leads through rocky terrain and alpine landscapes, providing a gentle introduction to trekking conditions. After several hours of steady walking, you arrive at Saicho, a picturesque campsite surrounded by steep mountains. This first trekking day helps your body to adjust to altitude while enjoying the outdoors.
Day 06: Trek to Dalsangpa (4,100m)
On this Day
Today's trek becomes more difficult as you ascend toward Dalsangpa, gaining tremendous elevation. The trail passes through rocky slopes, glacial streams, and progressively harsh terrain. As you travel higher, the scenery gets more stunning, with closer vistas of towering peaks and glaciers. When you arrive at Dalsangpa, you will camp in a high alpine environment to allow for acclimatization while preparing for the tough days ahead toward the pass.
Day 07–12: Masherbrum La Pass (5,325m) – Crossing Days
On this Day
These days are dedicated to the difficult passage of the Masherbrum La Pass, which includes glacier travel, high ascents, and precise navigation across crevassed terrain. The journey takes stamina and teamwork as you approach the 5,325-meter pass. Pacing is determined by weather conditions and the safety of the trip. After reaching the pass, you are rewarded with stunning panoramic views before commencing your descent into the Baltoro side of the Karakoram.
Day 13–14: Descent to Yermanendu Glacier
On this Day
After crossing the mountain, you'll start descending into the Yermanendu Glacier, carefully avoiding glacial terrain and loose moraine. The descent is physically taxing, but it provides stunning vistas of the Baltoro region's huge snowy landscapes. These days, the emphasis is on safe movement and progressive drop of altitude, with camps located on firm terrain. As you get closer to the Baltoro Glacier, the landscape changes from towering snowfields to vast glacier systems.
Day 15: Trek back to Urdukas (4,130m)
On this Day
Today you will go up the Baltoro Glacier to Urdukas, one of the most magnificent campsites in Karakoram. The hike provides spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and the glacier's immense expanse. Urdukas is situated on grassy terraces above the glacier, offering a refreshing contrast to the frigid surroundings. Upon arrival, you can relax and take in the panoramic views before continuing on the more established Baltoro trekking trail.
Day 16: Trek to Khoburtse (3,565m)
On this Day
The walk continues down the Baltoro Glacier into Khoburtse, passing through stony moraine and glacier terrain. The descent becomes more gradual, allowing for a slightly lighter trekking pace than in previous days. Along the trip, you'll see spectacular peaks and glacial structures. Khoburtse is a lovely campsite where you may unwind after a long day and reflect on the difficult pass crossing behind you.
Day 17: Trek to Paiju (3,385m)
On this Day
Today's hike takes you down to Paiju, one of the most delightful campsites on the Baltoro path. The landscape progressively transforms as more flora develops, and the trail becomes less technical. Paiju is famed for its trees and reasonably moderate climate, making it a welcome respite after days on the glaciers. It is also a vital logistical hub for hiking groups passing through the area.
Day 18: Trek to Jhola (3,155m)
On this Day
The journey continues toward Jhola, taking pathways along the river and passing suspension bridges. The terrain is less challenging, making for a steady and pleasurable trek along the valley. The changing panorama, with more vegetation and lower altitude circumstances, provides a welcome respite from the high-altitude hardships. Jhola is a tranquil campsite where you can unwind and prepare for the final legs of your walk.
Day 19: Trek to Askole - Drive to Skardu
On this Day
On the final trekking day, you arrive at Askole, the last settlement before climbing the upper Karakoram. The track follows familiar paths with a steady decline, providing final views of the mountainous landscapes you've covered. When you arrive in Askole, vehicles are organized for the return trip to Skardu. This concludes the trekking section of the adventure, providing time to relax and celebrate the accomplishment.
Day 20: Contingency Day
On this Day
This day is set aside as a contingency for any delays caused by weather, route conditions, or logistical issues throughout the trek. It allows for greater flexibility in ensuring the expedition's safety and success. If not necessary, the day can be spent relaxing in Skardu, seeing the surrounding sites, or simply recovering from the physically difficult travel through the Karakoram.
Day 21: Fly to Islamabad
On this Day
You fly back from Skardu to Islamabad, taking in breathtaking vistas of the Karakoram and Himalayan peaks. In the event of a flight cancellation, a drive over the Karakoram Highway is organized. Upon arrival in Islamabad, transfer to your hotel and relax for the evening. This symbolizes your return from one of the world's most isolated and hardest trekking destinations.
Day 22: Fly to home country
On this Day
After breakfast, you will be taken to Islamabad International Airport for your travel back home. This closes your Masherbrum La Pass trek, which was loaded with adventure, high-altitude obstacles, and unforgettable landscapes. You leave Pakistan with vivid memories of the Karakoram's spectacular majesty and the accomplishment of crossing one of the country's most difficult mountain passes.

Overview – Masherbrum La Pass Trek
The Masherbrum Pass Trek is one of northern Pakistan’s most adventurous and inaccessible trips. It connects Hushe Valley and Askole across the massive Karakoram range. Unlike other hikes, this route crosses the steep Masherbrum La Pass at 5,325 meters. As a result, it offers a unique combination of difficult trekking and a raw environment. Trekkers encounter glaciers, snowfields, and breathtaking high-altitude scenery. Furthermore, the trek offers beautiful views of Masherbrum and the neighboring peaks. As a result, it attracts experienced hikers looking for an authentic expedition-style adventure.
Furthermore, this route offers an unparalleled transition between remote valleys and the renowned Baltoro Glacier. Along the trip, trekkers travel through remote camps like Dalsangpa and Urduka. Furthermore, the journey requires endurance, navigational abilities, and adequate acclimatization. However, the payoff is a remarkable journey across one of Karakoram’s least-traveled routes. In contrast to overcrowded paths, this journey is wild and unspoiled. As a result, it is great for those who value solitude and genuineness. Overall, the trek is Pakistan’s premier high-altitude experience.
