After leaving the luggage at the hotel, a guided walking tour begins in Ichan-Kala, Khiva's medieval inner town and open-air museum. The tour visits city gates, old fortresses, royal palaces, madrassahs, mosques, mausoleums, caravanserais, and the famous Islam-Khoja minaret. Each monument commemorates the Khiva Khanate's architectural and cultural history. Following the expedition, the remainder of the day is free for relaxation. Following breakfast, head toward the Uzbek-Turkmen border via the Shavat crossing. Border crossing procedures are performed before meeting with the Turkmen guide on the other side. The journey continues via various scenery, eventually leaving paved highways to enter the immense Karakum Desert.
