The itinerary for the trek is listed below.
Day 02: Fly to Skardu, Karakoram
On this Day
Early in the morning, participants enjoy a picturesque flight from Islamabad to Skardu, one of the world's most spectacular mountain flights. Weather permitting, stunning views of Nanga Parbat and the neighboring peaks will unveil along the journey. After arrival in Skardu, the remainder of the day is free for acclimatization and recreation. Participants can tour the town, see neighboring sites, or prepare for their upcoming trip in the Karakoram region.
Day 03: Drive to Arandu
On this Day
Following breakfast, the trek continues by road from Skardu to the Arandu settlement. The route takes you through breathtaking scenery, including rocky valleys, rivers, and traditional Baltistan communities that depict the local culture. This long yet gorgeous drive offers insights into local life and terrain. Upon arrival in Arandu, participants set up camp, meet the local trekking crew, and prepare for the upcoming trekking days while admiring the peaceful mountain scenery.
Day 04: Drive to Bisil (Hot Springs)
On this Day
Today's journey takes a shorter route from Arandu to Bisil, which is noted for its natural hot spring. The path continues through secluded valleys and increasingly rugged terrain. When participants arrive in Bisil, they can relax and enjoy the soothing hot springs, which serve to relieve muscle tension before beginning their trip. The camp is located near the springs and provides a tranquil environment. The day also involves final supply inspections, porter coordination, and a briefing on the next sections of the trek.
Day 05: Trek to Dabudas Camp
On this Day
The walk officially begins when participants leave Bisil and travel to Dabudas Camp. The trail steadily ascends through tough terrain, traversing streams and small trails along mountain sides. The terrain gets more spectacular, with towering peaks and glacial features visible in the distance. The pace is consistent to promote acclimatization. When trekkers arrive at Dabudas Camp, they can relax and enjoy the quiet of the high-altitude setting, which is surrounded by unspoiled forest.
Day 06: Trek to Sokha Glacier
On this Day
Today's hike takes you to the Sokha Glacier, which offers breathtaking views of ice formations and rough mountain scenery. The trail has a steady elevation climb, with places needing careful footing over rough terrain. As trekkers approach the glacier, the landscape gets more alpine and desolate. A campsite is erected near the glacier, creating a spectacular scene. The day is critical for acclimatization, since it allows participants to adjust to higher altitudes before trying the high pass.
Day 07: Sokha La Pass (5,180m)
On this Day
This is one of the most demanding and rewarding days of the journey, with hikers attempting to cross Sokha La Pass at 5,180 meters. The ascent starts early, with a continuous rise through glacial and rocky terrain. The high altitude necessitates endurance and a deliberate pace. When trekkers reach the pass, they are greeted with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. Following a little rest, the descent begins towards the next campground.
Day 08: Descend to Biafo Glacier – Karfogoro Camp (4,583m)
On this Day
After passing Sokha La, the road descends to the massive Biafo Glacier, one of the longest glaciers outside of the polar regions. The walk includes crossing ice and uneven terrain, which requires concentration and coordination. The stunning scenery of the glacier dominates the landscape. Karfogoro Camp is situated along the glacier, providing breathtaking vistas and a sense of remoteness. The day mixes physical difficulty with the benefit of seeing one of the Karakoram's most famous landmarks.
Day 09: Trek to Morfogoro Camp (4,312m)
On this Day
The trek continues down the Biafo Glacier to Morfogoro Camp. The route crosses glacial surfaces, moraines, and occasional streams. Despite the rough terrain, the descent reduces altitude and makes trekking marginally easier. The surrounding countryside remains stunning, with towering peaks and vast ice fields. When hikers arrive at Morfogoro Camp, they relax and enjoy the unusual scenery while reflecting on their journey through one of Pakistan's most remote areas.
Day 10: Trek to Baintha Camp (4,148m)
On this Day
Today's route takes you to Baintha Camp, one of the most picturesque campsites along the Biafo Glacier. The trail continues over glacial terrain, with rare grassy spots offering a contrast to the ice scenery. Baintha is recognized for its relative comfort compared to earlier camps, providing a more stable resting location. Trekkers can unwind, enjoy the scenery, and recoup from the previous day's exertion while continuing their steady descent.
Day 11: Trek to Mango (3,734m)
On this Day
Leaving Baintha Camp, the trip continues to Mango, descending farther along the glacier and into lower altitudes. The topography becomes less rough, with more visible plants and softer ground underneath. The route still provides stunning mountain vistas, but in a slightly more welcoming setting. Mango Camp offers a convenient rest stop for trekkers to relax and enjoy the transition from high glacial scenery to greener surroundings.
Day 12: Trek to Namla (3,308m)
On this Day
The trip continues toward Namla, with a notable change in scenery as the altitude drops. The trail runs through areas with more foliage, streams, and clearly delineated trails. In comparison to the past, the environment has become more comfortable and less intense. Upon arrival in Namla, participants enjoy a camp at a lower altitude, which aids in recovery. The day is less physically challenging, allowing trekkers to take in the changing views and reflect on their adventure.
Day 13: Trek to Askoli
On this Day
On this day, trekkers arrive at Askoli, the last settlement on the trekking route. The trail becomes more defined and travels through populated regions, providing glimpses into local life. The arrival in Askoli signifies the end of the trekking segment. Participants celebrate their accomplishment and appreciate the comfort of returning to a familiar environment. The evening is spent relaxing, swapping experiences, and getting ready for the return trip to Skardu.
Day 14: Drive to Skardu
On this Day
After breakfast, the participants leave Askoli and go back to Skardu. The voyage retraces some of the previous route, providing another opportunity to experience Baltistan's stunning vistas. When trekkers arrive in Skardu, they check into their accommodation and enjoy much-needed amenities, including excellent food and relaxation. The day is free to relax, visit the town, or simply unwind after the strenuous hike.
Day 15: Fly to Islamabad
On this Day
Participants enjoy a return trip from Skardu to Islamabad, with amazing aerial views of the Karakoram range if the weather allows. When they arrive, they are taken to their hotel. The remainder of the day is free for shopping, sightseeing, and relaxation. A farewell party may be planned to commemorate the successful completion of the trek and share recollections of the expedition.
Day 16: Fly to Home Country
On this Day
On the final day, participants are transferred to Islamabad's overseas Airport to catch their overseas flights. After completing all paperwork, return to your home country with memorable recollections of the Sokha La Pass and Biafo Glacier walk. The tour culminates with a sense of success after exploring one of the Karakoram Mountains' most inaccessible and breathtaking locations.
