Itinerary – Alchori La Pass Trek – 15 days

The itinerary for the trek is listed below.

On this Day

An early morning sightseeing trip to Gilgit provides stunning aerial views of the Karakoram Range. Upon arrival, you will proceed to Karimabad in the breathtaking Hunza Valley. The afternoon is ideal for casual exploration of local culture and sights. You will progressively acclimate while enjoying views of the surrounding peaks, and prepare for the walk deeper into the region.

On this Day

After breakfast, you drive via steep mountain roads to Hispar Village, the starting point for your trekking trip. The journey follows the Hunza River and passes through dramatic valleys and traditional settlements. Upon arrival, you will meet the porters and settle the trekking plans. The remainder of the day is spent organizing equipment and relaxing in preparation for the strenuous trek that begins the next morning.

On this Day

The walk begins with a moderate ascent from Hispar Village, followed by narrow routes into the valley. Before arriving in the forest, you will walk through fields and rocky terrain. The hike offers vistas of glaciers and jagged rocks as you gradually gain altitude. After several hours of trekking, you reach Bitanmal, a picturesque campsite surrounded by towering peaks. The evening is spent resting and acclimating in this quiet and peaceful alpine setting.

On this Day

Today's trip takes us deeper into the highlands, where the trail gets steeper and more solitary. You stroll alongside glacial streams and moraine meadows, with increasing views of snow-capped peaks. The elevation climb becomes more noticeable, necessitating a consistent pace. Shigam Baris rewards you with panoramic views of the surrounding area. The campsite provides a peaceful location, ideal for recuperation and acclimatization before going to higher altitudes.

On this Day

The route to Yutmaru takes you through difficult terrain, including rocky pathways and glacier crossings. The landscape becomes more alpine, with scant vegetation and breathtaking mountain vistas. As you walk across uneven terrain, you will need to be cautious of your footing. Yutmaru offers magnificent camping with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. The evening is reserved for recuperation and preparation as you approach the more difficult stages of the journey ahead.

On this Day

Today's itinerary includes a strenuous glacier crossing and trek to the base camp of Alchori La Pass. You cross areas of ice and moraine, necessitating cautious navigation and coordination. The environment gets more stunning, with towering ice structures and expansive snowfields. You spend the night in base camp, surrounded by the tremendous majesty of the Karakoram, preparing emotionally and physically for the upcoming ascent.

On this Day

The climb to high camp is brief, but physically taxing due to steep grades and high altitude. You move slowly to preserve energy and adjust to the thinner air. The terrain comprises snow slopes and rocky hills, which necessitate concentration and cooperation. You arrive at high camp and prepare for the summit crossing the next day. The rest of the day is spent resting, hydrating, and reviewing safety protocols for crossing the high pass.

On this Day

This is the most difficult and rewarding day, as you climb to the peak of Alchori La Pass at 5,370 metres. The climb features steep snow and slippery sections that need stamina and determination. At the top, you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the Karakoram. After celebrating your accomplishment, you camp near the pass to enjoy the raw beauty and solitude of one of the region's highest trekking crossings.

On this Day

Following an early start, you descend from the pass to the Arandu side. The descent is difficult, requiring careful navigation through snowfields and stony slopes. As you reduce elevation, the terrain progressively becomes less severe. You continue trekking until you find a nice campsite along the valley. The change in landscape signals your entry into a new region, providing a new viewpoint on Karakoram's varied terrain.

On this Day

As you get closer to Arandu, the trail descends into greener slopes. The track gets more distinct as it passes through farms and tiny communities. The appearance of plants and flowing water indicates your descent from high-altitude land. When you arrive in Arandu, you are greeted with warm local warmth. This concludes the hiking section, allowing you to unwind and reflect on your adventure.

On this Day

You begin a lovely trip across the Shigar Valley towards Skardu. The route includes rivers, traditional villages, and breathtaking mountain scenery. When you get to Skardu, you check into your accommodation and relax after days spent in the woods. The evening is free for rest or light exploration, signaling the end of the trekking adventure and the return to civilization.

On this Day

This day is dedicated to rest or optional exploration of Skardu. You can visit neighboring sites like lakes, forts, and local markets, or simply relax and recuperate from your hike. The serene setting is ideal for reflecting on your trek via the Alchori La Pass. It also provides flexibility in the event of weather delays or travel changes before your return trip.

On this Day

You fly back from Skardu to Islamabad, experiencing superb aerial views of the Karakoram ranges. When you arrive in Islamabad, you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for shopping, sightseeing, or relaxing following your adventure. A farewell meal can be planned to commemorate the successful conclusion of your journey through one of Pakistan's most remote and beautiful places.

On this Day

Following breakfast, you are transported to the airport for your overseas flight. As you depart Pakistan, you'll have vivid recollections of the Alchori La Pass walk, including the difficult paths, magnificent scenery, and unique cultural experiences. This concludes your experience, leaving you with a strong appreciation for the magnificence and grandeur of the Karakoram Mountains.
