Itinerary – Boesam Pir Pass Trek – 12 days

The itinerary for the trek is listed below.

On this Day

Take a beautiful trip from Islamabad to Gilgit for stunning aerial views of the Karakoram ranges, including Nanga Parbat on clear days. Upon arrival, take the Karakoram Highway to Karimabad in Hunza Valley. The tour includes magnificent vistas, rivers, and mountain beauty, culminating in a nice stay in Karimabad.

On this Day

Drive from Karimabad to Shimshal Village, one of Pakistan's most distant villages. The steep road follows the Shimshal River through deep gorges and tight cliffs, providing an exciting experience. Upon arrival, immerse yourself in the native Wakhi culture and traditions. Spend the evening relaxing and preparing for the trip while admiring the tranquility of this remote mountain community.

On this Day

Begin your trip in Shimshal Village and progressively rise over alpine terrain and rocky trails. The path goes along steep slopes, providing spectacular views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. As you go, you will see that the countryside becomes more isolated and undisturbed. After several hours of trekking, we arrive at Zardgarbeen, a lovely campsite surrounded by mountains. Settle in, have a nice meal, and spend your first night under the big alpine sky.

On this Day

Continue your journey deeper into the high-altitude wilderness, toward Shpoadeen Pass Base. The trail gets more difficult, passing through rocky terrain and alpine meadows with occasional glacier streams. The surroundings get more spectacular, with towering peaks and panoramic views. Once you get to the base camp, take some time to recover and acclimatize. The tranquil surroundings and fresh mountain air make an ideal setting for preparing for the impending high pass trip.

On this Day

Today is the most difficult and rewarding day, as you climb to Boesam Pir Pass at 4,902 meters. The climb includes high sections and requires careful navigation through rocky and snowy terrain. When you reach the summit, you'll be able to see panoramic views of the Karakoram range in all directions. After celebrating your accomplishment, set up a tent near the pass, surrounded by spectacular high-altitude views.

On this Day

Descend the pass toward Madiqshligh, taking care to navigate the steep and uneven terrain. The descent provides breathtaking views of valleys and distant peaks, with changing scenery as the altitude decreases. The terrain eventually gets less strenuous, allowing for a more comfortable pace. When you get to Madiqshligh, pitch up camp in a picturesque area. The quieter setting and lower altitude provide a welcome respite after a physically tough day.

On this Day

Continue your walk across wild alpine vistas toward Furzin. The path traverses large valleys, grazing pastures, and mild hills, providing a contrast to the prior high-altitude environment. Along the walk, you may come across local shepherds and native wildlife. The journey is rather mild, allowing you to take in the natural splendor at a steady pace. Arrive in Furzin and spend the night camping in this calm and picturesque setting.

On this Day

Trek from Furzin to Vonokin, progressively descending via magnificent valleys and steep trails. After reaching Vonokin, continue trekking until you reach the road. From here, vehicles will pick you up for the journey back to Karimabad in Hunza Valley. The change from wilderness to town is pleasant, and once there, you can relax in luxurious accommodations while thinking about your fantastic trekking adventure.

On this Day

Spend the day exploring Karimabad, visiting ancient places like Baltit Fort, and admiring vistas of nearby peaks such as Rakaposhi. Wander through the local markets and connect with the welcoming locals. Drive to Gilgit late in the evening and spend the night. As you prepare to go, the voyage provides one final view of the breathtaking Hunza countryside.

On this Day

Take an early morning flight from Gilgit to Islamabad. Weather permitting, the flight will once again provide breathtaking views of the Karakoram Range. Transfer to your hotel and spend a relaxing day in the capital. You can visit local sites, eat in a nice restaurant, or simply relax after an exciting mountain hike.

On this Day

Transfer to the airport for your international departure from Islamabad. As you depart Pakistan, take with you wonderful memories of the Boesam Pir Pass trek, the dramatic vistas of the Karakoram, and the kind hospitality of the locals. This voyage provides not only physical accomplishment but also a strong connection to the environment and culture, making it a really unforgettable adventure.
