Itinerary – Chaprot Pass Trek – 10 days

The itinerary for the Chaprot Pass Trek is listed below.

On this Day

A scenic flight from Islamabad to Gilgit provides stunning aerial views of the Karakoram peaks, including sightings of Nanga Parbat on clear days. Upon arrival, transfer to your accommodation and relax. The balance of the day is dedicated to acclimatization and minor exploration of the town. Before embarking on your hiking adventure, you can wander around local bazaars or relax in the peaceful mountain setting.

On this Day

Drive from Gilgit to Nagar Valley on a clean blacktop road that passes through scenic vistas along the Hunza River. Continue to Chalt and then Chaprot on a rough off-road trail. From Chaprot, take an exhilarating jeep trip to Gappa Valley. The valley boasts breathtaking alpine landscapes, lush meadows, and a tranquil camping area surrounded by high peaks.

On this Day

Begin walking from Gappa Valley to the base camp of Chaprot Pass. The trail progressively ascends through alpine pastures and rocky terrain, providing stunning views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Along the journey, you'll see grazing livestock and seasonal shepherd communities. The hike helps your body acclimate to higher elevations. When you arrive at base camp, put up your tents and relax in the quiet mountain environment.

On this Day

Today is the most difficult and rewarding day, as you ascend to pass Chaprot Pass at 4,900 metres. Depending on the season, the steep ascent will require you to navigate rocky slopes and possibly snow spots. At the summit, you'll be treated to stunning panoramic views of the Karakoram range. After spending some time at the peak, descend gently and set up camp along the pass. The night at high altitude provides an amazing experience under a star-filled sky.

On this Day

Begin your descent from the pass and into the stunning Naltar Valley region. The journey progressively takes you past glacial streams, steep trails, and lovely meadows. As you descend, the foliage thickens, and the environment becomes more colorful. Eventually, you'll arrive at the magnificent Naltar Lake, which is noted for its brilliant blue waters. Camp beside the lake and enjoy the tranquil setting.

On this Day

Continue climbing deeper into Naltar Valley, passing through pine forests and lovely scenery. The trail becomes easier as the altitude drops, allowing us a more leisurely pace. Along the route, take in vistas of vibrant lakes and rich foliage that contrast with the rough terrain of prior days. Reach the major population area of Naltar Valley, where you will camp or stay in minimal accommodations while learning about the region's unique culture and friendliness.

On this Day

Spend the morning exploring Naltar Valley, visiting its famous lakes and admiring the tranquil alpine scenery. After exploring, begin your jeep trip back to Gilgit along a rough mountain route. The route provides stunning views of forests, streams, and valleys along the way. Upon arrival in Gilgit, check into your accommodation and relax for the evening. This concludes your hiking journey and returns you to the luxuries of urban life.

On this Day

Board a morning flight from Gilgit to Islamabad for more breathtaking aerial views of the northern highlands. Transfer to your hotel and unwind after the trek. The remainder of the day is free for leisure activities, shopping, and touring in the capital city. This day serves as a buffer in the event of flight delays caused by inclement weather in hilly areas.

On this Day

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your international flight from Islamabad. Reflect on the fantastic voyage through secluded valleys, high mountain passes, and stunning scenery. The Chaprot Pass Trek offers a distinct combination of adventure, natural beauty, and cultural experiences. Depart with unforgettable recollections of one of Pakistan's most gorgeous and underexplored trekking paths.
