Travel from Astore to Gorikot and Rattu, then continue by four-wheel drive vehicle via the difficult mountain road beyond Rattu. Before reaching the remote Kala Pani Valley, go via riverfront settlements and the Dirlay area. Explore lush alpine meadows, clear streams, rocky slopes, and panoramic views beneath towering surrounding hills. Enjoy photography, short nature walks, and a picnic in the calm surroundings of the Kala Pani area. Overnight stay in the Kala Pani area.
Day 03: Back to Gilgit
On this Day
Take the mountain route back through Gorikot, forests, towns, and the narrow Astore River valley. Rejoin the Karakoram Highway in the Indus Valley and head toward Gilgit, stopping at appropriate spots for photos and refreshments. The return route offers another view of the region's craggy cliffs, rivers, and terraced farmland. After visiting one of Astore Valley's quietest and least-developed alpine spots, continue to Gilgit to complete the three-day Kala Pani Valley Tour.
