Itinerary – Rainbow Lake Astore Tour (7 Days)

Day 02: Drive to Astore Valley
On this Day
Leave Chilas and take the Karakoram Highway to Jaglot, where you may enjoy views of the Indus Valley and neighboring mountain ranges. Turn onto the Astore Road and continue along the Astore River, passing through small gorges, isolated communities, and farmed terraces. Arrive in Astore town, check into your accommodation, and then explore the bazaar and local vistas. The slow timetable allows tourists to adjust to the higher elevation before continuing deeper into the valley.
Day 03: Rama Meadows and Rama Lake Tour

Travel by vehicle from Astore town to Rama Meadows, going through pine forests, mountain streams, and traditional communities. Walk over the large meadow and toward Rama Lake, where vast landscapes frame distant vistas of Nanga Parbat and the neighboring peaks. Spend plenty of time exploring the lake, wooded trails, and tranquil picnic places before returning to Astore. This tour provides accessible alpine experiences and prepares the group for the remote travel to Minimarg and Domail.
Day 04: Astore to Domail via Burzil Pass
On this Day
Begin the distant jeep ride from Astore to Chilam Chowki, once the identification and access formalities are fulfilled. Continue across the high Burzil Pass, surrounded by broad grasslands, streams, and snow-covered mountains. Descend toward Minimarg, passing through the green valley, wooden settlements, and pine-covered slopes. The road then continues to Domail, the entryway to Rainbow Lake. Set up pre-arranged local accommodations near the lake in the tranquil mountain settings.
Day 05: Explore Rainbow Lake and Domail

Spend the day exploring Domail Valley and the famous Rainbow Lake, whose beautiful water reflects green slopes, rugged peaks, and shifting alpine light. Walk along the lakefront, photograph wildflowers, and enjoy the tranquil gazebo and wide meadows that surround the water. Continue to neighboring attractive areas, such as Crystal Lake, where access is permitted. The leisurely itinerary allows tourists to completely experience Domail's beauty before returning to their lodging for a second overnight stay in this distant valley.
Day 06: Drive from Domail to Chilas
On this Day
Depart Domail and retrace the mountain road via Minimarg, Burzil Pass, and Chilam Chowki. Stops along the way offer further views of alpine meadows, river channels, grazing fields, and distant ridgelines. Continue through Astore before descending into the Indus Valley and joining the Karakoram Highway near Jaglot. Travel to Chilas and settle into your accommodation. This return trip provides a comfortable break in the long drive while still allowing for photography and roadside scenery.
Day 07: Drive to Islamabad
On this Day
Leave Chilas for Islamabad, travelling along the Indus River via magnificent canyons and mountain communities. Continue on the Karakoram Highway through Besham and Mansehra before connecting the Hazara Motorway. Scenic pauses and supper stops make the final ride more comfortable as guests rediscover memories from Astore, Rama, Burzil Pass, Minimarg, Domail, and Rainbow Lakes. Arrive in Islamabad and complete your seven-day excursion with an easy drop-off at the agreed-upon location in the capital.
