On this Day
An early morning flight from Islamabad to Skardu provides stunning aerial views of the Karakoram range, including Nanga Parbat on a clear day. When you arrive, you will be transferred to your hotel, where you can relax and adjust to the altitude. The rest of the day is free to explore Skardu town, prepare permits, and organize trekking equipment in preparation for the following adventure.
Day 03: Drive to Thallay Valley
On this Day
After breakfast, take a picturesque journey to Thallay Valley, traveling through rocky mountains, medieval towns, and dramatic river valleys. The journey offers an insight into the native Balti culture and lifestyle. Preparations for the trekking phase begin when the jeepable road comes to an end. Camp is set up at the trekking starting site, where the crew can organize their kit and relax before the adventure begins.
Day 04: Trek to Shingkhang La Base
On this Day
The hike officially begins with a slow ascent over alpine terrain, traversing streams and green meadows as the altitude progressively increases. The hike provides amazing views of the neighboring peaks and a pristine environment. Porters and support staff ensure that the group travels at a reasonable speed for acclimatization. By afternoon, you've arrived at Shingkhang La Base, where you'll set up camp and recover before the difficult pass crossing ahead.
Day 05: Trek to Shingkhang La Pass
On this Day
This is the most difficult but rewarding day of the trek, as you ascend to Shingkhang La Pass. The trail grows steeper and more challenging, necessitating cautious navigation across rocky terrain and probably snow areas. When you approach the pass, you'll get amazing panoramic views of the Karakoram in all directions. Camp is uniquely located at the pass itself, providing a spectacular high-altitude experience beneath the huge alpine sky.
Day 06: Trek to Askoli Side Camp
On this Day
Descending from Shingkhang La, the terrain changes considerably as you approach the Askole side. The trail winds through glacier moraines and bleak but stunning vistas, highlighting the Karakoram's raw beauty. The descent demands care, but it rewards hikers with new perspectives and varied landscapes. By late afternoon, you've arrived at a decent campground on the Askole side, where the crew can rest and reflect on their successful crossing of the pass.
Day 07: Trek to Bardumal Camping Ground
On this Day
As the track descends, it gets more distinct as it approaches the Baltoro passages. The scenery progressively changes, with sporadic vegetation and larger valleys. The trip to Bardumal Camping Ground is modest, allowing trekkers to appreciate the scenery without exerting themselves too much. Upon arrival, camp is put up in a gorgeous location where trekkers can unwind, mingle with the team, and enjoy the tranquil environment after several difficult days.
Day 08: Trek to Jhola (3,155m)
On this Day
The route continues along a well-worn trail to Jhola, a popular campground for Baltoro trekkers. The path follows the Braldu River, which provides breathtaking vistas of cliffs and river valleys. The reasonably mild terrain provides a steady and comfortable hike. When you reach Jhola at 3,155 meters, camp is put up near the riverbank, offering a refreshing atmosphere and a sense of connection to the region's larger trekking routes.
Day 09: Trek to Askole
On this Day
The final trekking day will take you to Askole, the penultimate settlement before the high Karakoram treks. The trail is easier, passing through small towns, farmland, and familiar terrain. Reaching Askole signals the end of the trekking leg of the adventure. As you celebrate successfully crossing Shingkhang La, the group feels a sense of accomplishment. Camp or basic lodging is arranged, enabling time to relax and experience local hospitality.
Day 10: Drive to Skardu
On this Day
After breakfast, a jeep trip takes you from Askole to Skardu along rough mountain trails. The excursion retraces some of the previous route, providing another opportunity to appreciate the stunning vistas and river valleys. When you arrive in Skardu, you check into a lovely hotel with hot showers, good mattresses, and freshly prepared meals. The evening is free for relaxation, recovery, and reflection on the magnificent hiking adventure that has been completed.
Day 11: Explore Skardu
On this Day
This day is dedicated to relaxation and exploration of Skardu's cultural and natural attractions. You can explore Shangrila Resort, Upper Kachura Lake, Skardu Bazaar, and historical sights like Kharpocho Fort. The day allows trekkers to unwind after their adventure while taking in the region's beauty and charm. It also serves as a buffer day in the event of any delays earlier in the itinerary, allowing for greater flexibility in travel plans.
Day 12: Fly to Islamabad
On this Day
Weather permitting, an early transport will take you to Skardu Airport for your return trip to Islamabad. The flight once again provides breathtaking vistas of the Karakoram and Himalayan peaks. When you arrive in Islamabad, you will be transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for shopping, touring, or just resting. Overnight in Islamabad.
