Itinerary – Afghanistan Tour

The itinerary for the tour is given below.

On this Day

Today, the tour heads to Bamiyan, a place known for its spectacular landscapes and historical significance. As you drive through the Central Highlands, you'll notice slopes dotted with caverns that previously contained Buddhist monasteries and carvings. The site exhibits a remarkable legacy of Afghanistan's pre-Islamic past and is surrounded by breathtaking beauty in the Bamiyan Valley. Stay overnight in Bamiyan.

On this Day

This day is dedicated to an expedition to the beautiful Band-e-Amir, a sequence of deep blue lakes surrounded by dramatic mountain backdrops. Legend has it that Hazrat Ali, the Prophet Muhammad's cousin and son-in-law, built the dams that separate the lakes, although geologists believe they are natural mineral deposits. Band-e-Amir is a must-see destination in Afghanistan, with its contrasting vistas of blue waterways and arid terrain. After visiting the lakes, you'll return to Bamiyan. Stay overnight in Bamiyan.

On this Day

The drive to Mazar-e-Sharif is long but worthwhile, with breathtaking scenery and cultural experiences along the route. The journey takes you through the stunning Tashkurgan Gorge and stops at the Buddhist stupa at Samangan. The drive's highlight is crossing the massive Hindu Kush via the Salang Tunnel, a 2-kilometer route built by the Russians in the 1960s that is still considered one of Afghanistan's most astounding technical accomplishments. Stay overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

On this Day

A whole day is spent exploring Mazar-e-Sharif and the adjoining ancient city of Balkh. In Mazar, you will visit Hazrat Ali's spectacular blue-tiled tomb, Afghanistan's most important religious shrine. A journey to Balkh uncovers the remains of one of the region's ancient cities, Bactria, which was once the birthplace of Zoroaster and the home of the poet Rumi. The ancient stupas near the town's entrance, the exquisite Khoja Parsa shrine, and the 9th-century No Gombad Mosque, the country's oldest, are all worth seeing. During the winter months, Fridays may provide an opportunity to observe the exciting national sport of Buzkashi. Stay overnight in Mazar-e-Sharif.

On this Day

After breakfast, you'll fly from Mazar-e-Sharif back to Kabul. Depending on the flight timing, there may be time to see more of Mazar before departing or to visit other attractions in Kabul upon arriving. Overnight in Kabul.

On this Day

The tour continues west, with a flight to Herat, Afghanistan's cultural center. Depending on your arrival time, your exploration of this historic city will begin right away, presenting you to the city's distinct blend of Persian, Timurid, and Islamic influences that have defined its architecture and ambiance for centuries. Stay overnight in Herat.

On this Day

A full day is dedicated to exploring Herat, which has the largest collection of ancient buildings in Afghanistan. The gorgeous Friday Mosque, known for its elaborate blue tile work, and the old citadel, a fortress dating back to Alexander the Great, are two must-sees. You will also see the Tomb of Gowar Shad, the relics of the Masullah Complex, and the Khoja Ansari shrine at Gazar Gah, which is still a haunting spiritual location. Stay overnight in Herat.

On this Day

You will return to Kabul, where your final tours of the metropolis will resume. A trip around the ancient city provides insight into traditional Afghan life, including a stop at the vibrant Koh Faroshi bird market, which highlights Kabul's cultural history. Overnight in Kabul.

On this Day

On the final day of the adventure, spend one last morning in Kabul before being transferred to the airport for your next flight. This concludes your Afghanistan Tour, which was a remarkable tour through the country's cultural, historical, and natural treasures.
