Itinerary – Barkot Meadows Trek (Gouro to Chaprote)
The itinerary for the trek is given below.
Day 02: Gouro to Barkot Lower Pastures
On this Day
Begin trekking from Gouro, following traditional pathways utilized by local shepherds and villagers. The trail progressively ascends above farmed areas and into quieter alpine environs. Cross seasonal creeks and proceed across grazing regions to reach the lower Barkot meadows. Set up camp in a decent grassy area with access to water.
Day 03: Trek to Barkot Meadows

Continue ascending through increasingly open alpine terrain to Barkot Meadows. The trail provides different views of the valleys and adjacent mountain slopes. Reach the main meadow region and set up camp among the summer grazing areas. Barkot is one of Nagar Valley's most prominent meadows and seasonal pastures.
Day 04: Exploration at Barkot Meadows
On this Day
Spend an entire day exploring Barkot Meadows and the surrounding peaks. Take a guided tour to neighboring sites while admiring the serene alpine scenery. The day also helps the group to recover, acclimatize, and prepare for their journey to Chaprote. Return to the same campsite for an additional night.
Day 05: Trek to Chaprote-Side High Camp
On this Day
Leave Barkot Meadows and take the mountain track to the Chaprote side of the route. The path may include steep portions, uneven footing, and seasonal stream crossings. Continue across grazing slopes and solitary alpine terrain until you locate a decent high campsite. The actual campsite location will be determined by the weather and trail conditions.
Day 06: Descend to Chaprote Valley
On this Day
Begin the descent to Chaprote Valley over pastureland, rugged slopes, and traditional village pathways. The environment gradually changes as the road passes through farmed fields, orchards, and permanent communities. Arrive at Chaprote and check into a hotel or nearby campsite. Chaprote is one of Nagar District's oldest settlements, known for its cultural and environmental significance.
Day 07: Back to Karimabad
On this Day
Before beginning your return journey, explore Chaprote's terraced fields, orchards, and typical village settings. Drive via Lower Nagar to reunite with the Karakoram Highway. Continue to Karimabad, where the Barkot Meadows Trek ends after completing the journey from Gouro to Chaprote.
