Itinerary – Feriole Pass Trek – 17 days

The itinerary for the trek is listed below.

On this Day

Participants will board an early morning flight to Skardu, one of the world's most scenic air routes, for breathtaking vistas of the Karakoram ranges, including glimpses of Nanga Parbat on clear days. Upon arrival, the party is transferred to the hotel and rests. The rest of the day is spent acclimating, exploring Skardu town, and making final logistical arrangements. Guides will ensure that all supplies and equipment are prepared for the journey ahead.

On this Day

The adventure begins with an exhilarating jeep ride from Skardu to Askole through the Shigar Valley. The course follows the raging Braldu River, going through harsh terrain and isolated towns. Depending on the road conditions, participants may start trekking before reaching Askole. The journey usually takes six to eight hours and includes breathtaking mountain vistas. Askole, the last populated village, signals the beginning of the hiking trip and delivers the first real sensation of wildness.

On this Day

The journey officially begins when the participants leave Askole and follow the trail along the Braldu River. The trail varies between sandy and rocky areas, with intermittent stream crossings. The scenery gradually opens up into enormous valleys flanked by towering peaks. The walk is moderate, allowing trekkers to ease into the rhythm of the expedition. After several hours, the company arrives at Jhola campground, located beside the river, where tents are pitched and a tranquil evening is spent.

On this Day

From Jhola, the trail follows the Domordo River, with stretches carved into cliffs and sometimes tiny passageways. The trail gives stunning views of the surrounding peaks and glacier scenery. Trekkers may encounter minor creeks that must be carefully crossed. The hike is steady and scenic, gradually increasing in altitude. Sok Camp is reached after many hours and provides a peaceful setting for rest. The camp is surrounded by rocky landscapes, offering a deeper immersion into the Karakoram environment.

On this Day

Today's trip takes participants over more glacier landscape as they head toward Damorgo. The terrain becomes increasingly rugged as it crosses moraines and glaciers. The terrain changes from river valleys to icy formations, necessitating cautious footing. The backdrop gets more stunning, with towering peaks and vast ice fields. When participants arrive at Damorgo Camp, they relax and acclimatize. The camp's location among glaciers is spectacular, and it marks a substantial step into high elevation territory.

On this Day

The walk continues higher into the mountains as participants make their way to Base Camp. The route comprises traversing glacial surfaces and rough moraines, which necessitates consistent pacing and coordination. The altitude gain becomes more noticeable, and hikers are recommended to stay hydrated and energized. The neighboring peaks become increasingly visible, resulting in a beautiful alpine setting. Base Camp is established in a sheltered spot with breathtaking views and serves as a preparation station for the higher peaks ahead.

On this Day

Participants continue their journey to High Camp, crossing steeper parts and more difficult terrain. The trail includes glacier travel and cautious route finding, all escorted by professional staff. The air thins out, and the speed decreases to aid acclimation. The scenery becomes more stunning, with enormous ice fields and high hills surrounding the trail. High Camp is strategically located, providing a resting stop before tackling the Feriole Pass crossing the next day.

On this Day

This is the most difficult and rewarding day of the walk, with hikers ascending toward Feriole Pass. The climb includes steep glacier travel and sometimes icy conditions, necessitating cautious movement and coordination. When trekkers reach the pass, they are greeted with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding Karakoram peaks. After spending time at the peak, the party sets up camp near the pass. The high-altitude environment provides a one-of-a-kind and unforgettable experience surrounded by breathtaking mountain landscapes.

On this Day

After clearing the pass, the trekkers begin their descent to the opposite side. The path requires careful navigation over glaciers and rocky slopes, with a focus on footing. As the party descends, the terrain becomes less steep, making breathing easier. The environment changes gently, providing new vistas of the Karakoram terrain. The campsite is set up in a lovely area, allowing participants to recover after the physically arduous pass crossing.

On this Day

Today's journey continues across the Trango Glacier, which is distinguished by enormous ice stretches and rough moraine parts. The course needs a steady pace and careful navigation through challenging terrain. The altitude is substantial, so participants are recommended to move slowly and conserve energy. Camp I is located at roughly 4060 meters and offers spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The location offers a stunning high-altitude experience, with towering granite spires and glacier structures dominating the landscape.

On this Day

The trail leads to Paiju, which is near the Baltoro Glacier, one of the most famous glaciers in the Karakoram. The trail combines glacier travel and rocky trails, with breathtaking vistas of prominent peaks and ice formations. As the participants descend, the terrain becomes more doable. Paiju provides a greener environment than past camps, with possibilities for rest and recovery. The campsite offers a lovely and comfortable rest before continuing on the return journey.

On this Day

Participants retrace their steps toward Jhola, following the familiar trail via the Braldu Gorge. The descent makes the hike simpler than in previous days, but certain river crossings may still demand caution. As the altitude drops, the terrain becomes more approachable, and hikers may take in the changing scenery. The return to Jhola gives a sense of success, indicating great progress on the trek back. The campsite provides a cozy and familiar resting place.

On this Day

The final trekking day takes participants back to Askole via the river trail. When the party arrives in the settlement, they celebrate the end of their trekking journey. After lunch, participants board jeeps for the return trip to Skardu, following the steep path via the Shigar Valley. The drive provides an opportunity to unwind and reflect on the adventure. Arrival in Skardu signals the return to comfort, with hotel accommodations and much-needed relaxation.

This day is dedicated to relaxation and exploring Skardu. Participants can explore local sites, including Shangrila Resort and Upper Kachura Lake, while taking in the region's calm splendor. The day provides time to recover after the journey as well as opportunities to learn about local culture and food. It also serves as a buffer day in the event of a flight delay, allowing for greater schedule flexibility.

On this Day

Participants fly back from Skardu to Islamabad, where they can enjoy beautiful views of the Karakoram and Himalayan peaks. When the group arrives in Islamabad, they are transferred to their hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax, shop, or explore. Overnight stay in Islamabad

On this Day

On the final day, participants are taken to Islamabad International Airport for their departing flights. Depending on the travel schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or relaxation. The trek ends with amazing memories of the Feriole Pass Trek, new friendships, and a profound respect for the raw beauty of the Karakoram Mountains. Participants return to their home nations, signaling the conclusion of an incredible high-altitude trip.

 

Why Register Early?

1. Early Bird Discount: The given prices for the holiday are limited-time discount offers and are subject to change. Service providers including (but not limited) to airlines and hotels increase prices in peak-season. Early reservations cost less than peak-season. 

2. Limited Flight Seats: Domestic flight seats to the Karakorams and Himalayas are sold out way ahead of time because there are only two daily flights during peak season. Among other things, the deposit is used to book domestic flights for you in advance.

3. Pay Balance after arrival in Pakistan: In these unusual times, we appreciate that paying the final balance for your trip may cause concern. Our policy is to only receive your final balance once you arrive in Pakistan. The only payment before arrival is the deposit.

4. Deposit valid for 3 years: We understand the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic (Covid-19). As part of our relaxed booking conditions following Covid-19, deposits are valid for 2 years.

Refund Policy for All

Deposit: Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable (but valid for 2 years) as it will be spent on making in-country arrangements. 

Balance: Pay the balance only after arrival in Pakistan on the first day. Payment guidelines will be shared timely.

Currency

All international travelers can pay in US Dollars (USD) or equivalent in Euros (EUR) or Pound Sterling (GBP). Pakistani travelers are charged the equivalent in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).

Single Supplement

Separate hotel rooms (single supplement) will cost an additional USD 290. This includes all hotel nights. This payment should be made with the balance upon arrival.

Separate tents (single tent) will cost an additional USD 180. This includes the cost of additional porterage. This payment should also be made with the balance in Pakistan.
