Itinerary – Nushik La Pass Trek – 13 days

The itinerary for the trek is listed below.

On this Day

After an early breakfast, you will board a beautiful flight to Skardu, one of the world's most spectacular air routes, with breathtaking vistas of the Karakoram ranges, including glimpses of Nanga Parbat on clear days. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel and spend the day adjusting to the altitude. You can explore Skardu Bazaar or visit neighboring sights. The tranquil atmosphere and spectacular vistas are a good introduction to the raw beauty of northern Pakistan.

On this Day

Today you'll take a long but gorgeous drive to Arandu Village, the beginning site for your hike. The route takes winding mountain roads through gorgeous valleys, rivers, and traditional Balti communities. Along the route, you'll see breathtaking views of jagged peaks and expansive landscapes. Upon arrival in Arandu, you will be greeted by the local trekking personnel and porters. The village provides an insight into local life and culture, and you'll spend the night getting ready for the journey ahead.

On this Day

Your trekking journey begins as you leave Arandu Village and follow a trail through the valley to the base camp. The path features mild ascents as well as spectacular portions through streams and alpine meadows. You will get your first close-up views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. The pace is steady, which aids in acclimatization and allows you to adjust to the increasing altitude. When you arrive at the base camp, you will relax and enjoy the peaceful setting surrounded by towering peaks and undisturbed forest.

On this Day

Today's hike takes you farther into the mountains, up to High Camp. The landscape gets increasingly rough, with steeper slopes and rocky trails that demand careful navigation. As you ascend, the scenery becomes more dramatic, with panoramic views of snow-capped peaks and glacial formations. The air thins, so the pace remains moderate and steady. When you arrive at High Camp, you will prepare for the arduous pass crossing the next day while admiring the spectacular sunset over the Karakoram range.

On this Day

This is the most difficult and rewarding day of the walk, as you attempt to cross the Nushik La Pass at 4,977 meters. The trek includes difficult ascents across rocky and snowy terrain, which necessitates tenacity and careful footing. At the summit, you will be rewarded with stunning panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. After some time at the pass, you will begin your descent to the opposite side. The sense of accomplishment, along with the spectacular environment, makes for an amazing experience. Camp

On this Day

After crossing the pass, you will drop to the enormous Hispar Glacier. The terrain evolves into a spectacular expanse of ice and rock, revealing the Karakoram's raw beauty. Trekking on and alongside the glacier requires caution because the terrain can be uneven and difficult. You'll make your way to the Hagure campsite, which is flanked by towering peaks and glaciers. The area's solitude and magnificence provide for a one-of-a-kind hiking experience that fosters a strong connection with nature.

On this Day

As you travel over the glacier and neighboring valleys, you will be treated to breathtaking vistas of the Karakoram range. After about an hour, you'll descend a steep bank to cross to the opposite side of the glacier before returning to a flatter valley trail. The varied terrain provides variation to the route, making it both interesting and scenic. You will arrive at Bitanmal campground early in the afternoon, a lush meadow used by local herders, where you may have fresh milk and learn about the local pastoral culture.

On this Day

Today, you will hike toward Hispar Village, which will mark the end of your trekking expedition. The trail crosses a bridge and passes through a small glacier before entering greener terrain. The contrast between the desolate glacier and the colorful orchards and terraced meadows is stunning. Depending on the road conditions, you may encounter jeeps before or after entering the village. Upon arrival, you will unwind at the campsite on grassy grounds, enjoying the comfort and kindness of the local community.

On this Day

Leaving Hispar Village, you will travel along the Nagar River over tiny mountain tracks to reach the Karakoram Highway. The drive provides stunning views of valleys and mountainous terrain before joining the major roadway along the Hunza River. Continuing, you will arrive in Karimabad, a lovely town in Hunza Valley. After checking into your hotel, you can rest, take a hot shower, and explore the nearby area. The comfort of a comfortable bed and facilities is a pleasant relief after days of walking.

On this Day

Karimabad, Hunza Valley's capital, provides breathtaking vistas of agricultural terraces and snow-covered hills. Today you will visit historic landmarks, including Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, both UNESCO-recognized sites rich in history and culture. After touring these landmark forts and learning about the region's history, you'll take the Karakoram Highway to Gilgit. The ride is lovely, and once you arrive, you will check into your hotel for the night.

On this Day

If the weather permits, you will fly back to Islamabad early in the morning. If the weather is clear, the flight provides beautiful aerial views of the Alps. If your flight is cancelled due to bad weather, you will go to Chilas or Besham via the Karakoram Highway and spend the night there. The next day, you will continue your journey to Islamabad. Regardless of mode of transportation, the return journey affords one more opportunity to appreciate the region's stunning vistas.

On this Day

After breakfast, you will be taken to Islamabad International Airport to catch your trip home. This concludes your remarkable tour through the Karakoram, which included unforgettable hiking experiences, stunning vistas, and cultural contacts. You will be left with vivid impressions of high mountain routes, glaciers, and secluded settlements. The trek not only provides adventure, but it also fosters a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and perseverance of the people who live in Pakistan's remote regions.
