The Shaltar Gali Pass walk (4,600m) provides an exciting trip in northern Pakistan. It connects the picturesque Nilt Valley with the rocky roads around Jaglot. An early morning trip to Gilgit provides breathtaking aerial views of the Karakoram Range. Upon arrival, you will begin a picturesque trip to Nilt Valley, passing through lush villages and stunning terrain. The journey teaches you about the region's beauty and culture. After arriving in Nilt, you settle into your accommodations, relax, and prepare for the hiking adventure that begins the next day.

The trek begins in Nilt Valley and gradually ascends through terraced farmland and alpine views. You'll follow a steady track that weaves through small communities and broad meadows, providing insights into traditional mountain life. This is the most difficult but rewarding day, as you climb to the high-altitude Shaltar Gali Pass at 4,600 meters. The ascent is steady but difficult, with breathtaking panoramic views emerging as you gain elevation. When you approach the pass, you are rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding valleys and distant peaks. After spending some time at the summit, you descend gently and set up camp nearby, relaxing beneath the magnificent mountain sky after a significant accomplishment.

Leaving the high-altitude pass behind, you begin your descent into a new landscape marked by broad valleys and open grazing areas. The terrain is easier than the previous days, allowing you to completely enjoy the beautiful surroundings. You may come upon local shepherds and wildlife along the road. The hike continues at a leisurely pace until you arrive at a picturesque campsite, where you may relax and reflect on your experience while enjoying the serene alpine atmosphere.

Today's hike takes you further down toward Jaglot, along a track that progressively transforms from an alpine environment to more populated places. As you descend, the air warms, and the flora is more abundant. The trail provides stunning views of the valleys and river systems below. When you get to Jaglot, you will have completed the trekking leg of your journey, celebrated the successful crossing of the pass, and had some well-deserved rest.

On this Day

After breakfast, you'll take a short but lovely trip back to Gilgit. The route takes you along winding mountain roads and rivers, giving you one last glimpse at the scenery you've been through. When you arrive, check into your hotel and spend the rest of the day exploring the town, visiting local bazaars, or simply relaxing. This day provides a nice transition from trekking to urban life.

On this Day

You take a morning flight from Gilgit to Islamabad, admiring the beautiful aerial vistas of snow-capped peaks. When you arrive, you will be transported to your hotel. The rest of the day is free, with time for shopping, touring, or relaxing. You might choose to see cultural icons or sample local cuisine as the final moments of your vacation in northern Pakistan before departing.

On this Day

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Islamabad's airport for your international departure. Depending on your flight schedule, you might have some extra time for last-minute shopping or relaxation. As your journey comes to an end, you will have wonderful recollections of walking across the Shaltar Gali Pass and seeing Gilgit-Baltistan's breathtaking scenery and culture.

1. Early Bird Discount: The given prices for the holiday are limited-time discount offers and are subject to change. Service providers including (but not limited) to airlines and hotels increase prices in peak-season. Early reservations cost less than peak-season. 

2. Limited Flight Seats: Domestic flight seats to the Karakorams and Himalayas are sold out way ahead of time because there are only two daily flights during peak season. Among other things, the deposit is used to book domestic flights for you in advance.

3. Pay Balance after arrival in Pakistan: In these unusual times, we appreciate that paying the final balance for your trip may cause concern. Our policy is to only receive your final balance once you arrive in Pakistan. The only payment before arrival is the deposit.

4. Deposit valid for 3 years: We understand the uncertainty surrounding the pandemic (Covid-19). As part of our relaxed booking conditions following Covid-19, deposits are valid for 2 years. 

6. Pay Minimum Deposit: The deposits for the holiday are also early-bird discounts and automatically change accordingly:

  • 1st October: USD 190
  • 1st November: USD 290
  • 1st January: USD 350
  • 15th February: USD 400
  • 1st March: USD 450
  • 1st May: USD 490

Refund Policy for All

Deposit: Once paid, the deposit is non-refundable (but valid for 2 years) as it will be spent on making in-country arrangements. 

Balance: Pay the balance only after arrival in Pakistan on the first day. Payment guidelines will be shared timely.

Currency

All international travelers can pay in US Dollars (USD) or equivalent in Euros (EUR) or Pound Sterling (GBP). Pakistani travelers are charged the equivalent in Pakistani Rupees (PKR).

Single Supplement

Separate hotel rooms (single supplement) will cost an additional USD 290. This includes all hotel nights. This payment should be made with the balance upon arrival.

Separate tents (single tent) will cost an additional USD 180. This includes the cost of additional porterage. This payment should also be made with the balance in Pakistan.
