Itinerary – Takhto Lake Trek

The itinerary for the trek is listed below.

On this Day

Continue by road to Jamra, the starting point for the Takhto Lake trip from Jalkot. The terrain becomes wilder as the trailhead approaches, with small valleys, sparse towns, and steep mountains defining it. Begin the trek to Sangri Baik, commonly known locally as Sangro Behk. The route introduces hikers to Kohistan's rough terrain, which includes gradual elevation gain, stream crossings, and open camping places surrounded by alpine views.

On this Day

Begin the strenuous ascent toward the high pass that leads to Takhto Lake. The trail climbs across rocky slopes, open fields, and exposed sections that necessitate a steady pace and high fitness. After passing the high pass, proceed towards the lake basin until you reach Takhto Lake for camping. The site is secluded and stunning, with clear water, mountain walls, and a true wilderness atmosphere away from the main tourist routes.

On this Day

Spend the day at Takhto Lake, exploring the surrounding alpine basin. The lake is located in an isolated area of the Palas Kohistan region, where steep slopes, meadows, and high-altitude stillness offer an unforgettable alpine experience. Before leaving the campsite, trekkers can go around the lake, shoot the scenery, and get some extra acclimatization. The day also allows for weather, recuperation, and route assessment before descending to Pharor Gah.

On this Day

Leave Takhto Lake and proceed to Pharor Gah village via the Palas side of Kohistan. The path moves from high alpine terrain towards greener slopes, seasonal grazing regions, and village environs. This part adds cultural richness to the walk by allowing trekkers to experience local hospitality after spending many days in remote camps. The descent can be long and strenuous, but it completes the journey from the Jalkot approach to the Pharor Gah valley.

On this Day

Begin the return trek from Pharor Gah to the major road link, using local transport as needed. The highway gradually exits the Palas Kohistan terrain and rejoins the larger road network towards Dasu, Besham, and Islamabad. This final day marks the end of an unusual journey from Jalkot to Takhto Lake and Pharor Gah. Arrive in Islamabad with recollections of high passes, secluded campgrounds, village hospitality, and unspoiled Kohistan landscape.

Overview – Takhto Lake Trek

Takhto Lake Trek (Sangri Baik, Upper Kohistan) is a remote excursion across the untamed Kohistan terrain. The path begins near Jamra in Jalkot, close to Dasu, and ends in Sangri Baik. Trekkers then climb to a 4,450-meter pass before continuing to Takhto Lake. Furthermore, the excursion provides unique access to the Jalkot side of Upper Kohistan. As a result, it is ideal for experienced hikers looking for solitude, raw mountain views, and a tough alpine trail. Along the trip, travelers will encounter steep valleys, rocky slopes, grazing pastures, and stunning ridgelines. As a result, the trek feels very different from the typical northern Pakistan trails.

Furthermore, Takhto Lake provides a potent combination of wildness, elevation, and cultural exploration. The lake is located on the Pharorgah Nalla side of Palas Kohistan, surrounded by rocky hills and quiet alpine scenery. After sleeping near the lake, the trail descends to Pharor Gah hamlet. As a result, hikers get to experience both high-altitude camping and traditional village hospitality in one excursion. This alternative road connects Upper Kohistan with Palas Kohistan. Furthermore, it provides travelers with a more in-depth hiking experience without overextending the trip. The trek is an outstanding choice for adventurous hiking in Pakistan.
