Itinerary – Chandsar Valley Trek
The itinerary for the trek is listed below.
Day 02: Trek to Chandsar Valley
On this Day
Begin the journey from Dubair Bazar and gradually progress to the Chandsar Valley path. The road goes through wooded portions, terraced slopes, streams, and scattered summer towns. As the valley narrows, the scenery gets more desolate, with waterfalls and towering hills marking the way. Continue to a suitable campsite below the upper valley. This stage allows trekkers to adjust to the terrain as porters and guides handle packs, route selection, and campsite arrangements.
Day 03: Trek to Chandsar Lake
On this Day
Continue your ascent from the upper camp to Chandsar Lake along a tough route through alpine meadows, rocky areas, and cold mountain streams. The trail steepens approaching the lake basin, where broad grasslands and snow-fed river systems provide stunning scenery. Reach Chandsar Lake and explore its peaceful surroundings. Camp beside the lake to take in the high-altitude environment, surrounding peaks, and unspoiled atmosphere of Dubair Kohistan.
Day 04: Trek back to Dubair Valley
On this Day
Retrace your steps from Chandsar Lake and descend along the same alpine valley to the lower campgrounds. The return trail gives greater vistas of the meadows, forested slopes, waterfalls, and scattered communities that may have been missed on the ascent. Continue cautiously through the stream crossings and uneven terrain until you reach Dubair Valley. Rest near Dubair Bazar after completing the trekking segment, with local hospitality and mountain views completing the Chandsar Valley experience.
Day 05: Return to Islamabad
On this Day
Leave Dubair Valley and head back to Islamabad via the Karakoram Highway. The return journey follows the Indus River through Lower Kohistan, passing by Dasu, Besham, Mansehra, and Hazara. Use the journey to meditate on the wilderness of Chandsar Valley, including its alpine lake, forested route, and secluded Kohistani culture. Arrive in Islamabad after a thorough mountain excursion that includes road travel, valley trekking, high-altitude camping, and one of Kohistan's hidden gems.
