Itinerary – Tattur Sar Trek
The itinerary for the trek is listed below.
Day 02: Dassu to Sumar Nala
On this Day
Continue from Dassu to the Sumar Nala side, utilizing local roads as conditions permit. The path enters a less-traveled Kohistani valley system, where villages grow fewer, and the terrain becomes steeper. Switch to jeep tracks or local transportation to get to the trekking start site. Camp near the route's accessible end, plan loads with porters, confirm trail conditions, and become accustomed to the alpine environment before the main ascent.
Day 03: Trek to Lower Tattur Sar Camp
On this Day
Begin the hike at the Sumar Nala trailhead and follow the nala system through rocky terrain, grazing pastures, and steep side valleys. The route progressively gains elevation while remaining close to seasonal water canals and open hillsides. Because this track is secluded and infrequently designated, local guides help you find your way. Find a suitable campsite beneath the upper basin, where the surrounding ridges, alpine silence, and wild terrain provide the first truly wilderness experience.
Day 04: Trek to Tattur Sar Twin Lakes
On this Day
Continue toward the upper valley, then climb deeper into the Tattur Sar. The trail becomes increasingly difficult as it passes through moraine parts, grass patches, loose stones, and steeper hills. Above Sumar Nala, views broaden to snow-fed troughs and high ridgelines. Depending on the weather and group pace, make your way to camp near the twin lakes. The environment provides a spectacular alpine backdrop of clean water, isolated peaks, and unspoiled Kohistani beauty.
Day 05: Tattur Sar Twin Lakes Exploration
On this Day
Spend the day exploring Tattur Sar Twin Lakes' shoreline, neighboring vistas, and surrounding alpine basins at a leisurely pace. The lakes are in a remote high-altitude area; thus, movement is dependent on weather, snow, and path safety. After photographing and exploring, return to the previous camp or a lower sheltering location. The return journey provides new views of the valley, such as distant ridges, grazing areas, and the rough Sumar Nala environment.
Day 06: Trek back to Dassu
On this Day
Retrace the trekking route through Sumar Nala and descend to the jeep access point. After meeting the conveyance, return to Dassu. Overnight stay at Dassu.
Day 07: Return to Islamabad
On this Day
After breakfast, continue along the Karakoram Highway to Islamabad. The tour concludes with vistas of the Indus corridor, Kohistan's steep valleys, and the mountain towns visited previously. Arrive in Islamabad with recollections of a seldom-visited alpine lake journey formed by difficult routes, local advice, and the raw beauty of Upper Kohistan.
