Day 01: Gilgit City – Khaltoro – Surfi Meadows
Depart Gilgit City and take the Gilgit-Skardu Road to Sassi, the Khaltoro Valley access point. Transfer from Sassi to Khaltoro village via a locally operated four-wheel-drive jeep on a narrow, rocky mountain trail. After meeting the trekking crew, start hiking uphill through forested slopes, streams, and wide pasture areas towards Surfi Meadows. Arrive at Surfi Meadow, set up camp, enjoy the sunset views, and spend the night beneath the surrounding Karakoram peaks.
Day 02: Explore Surfi Meadows – Back to Gilgit City
Wake up early to visit Surfi Meadows, which offers tranquil pastures, surrounding forest trails, mountain streams, and expansive views of Khaltoro Valley. After breakfast, take a leisurely walk around the meadow and explore various overlooks with your local guide. Later, pack up the campsite and continue the careful descent to Khaltoro settlement. Rejoin the jeep for the difficult return ride to Sassi, then proceed down the Gilgit-Skardu Road to Gilgit City.
